ACTOR BIO
Tika Sumpter joined the cast of One Life to Live in July 2005 in the role of Layla Williamson. OLTL marks her first major acting role.
Ms. Sumpter was born in Queens and grew in Middle Island, NY. She attended Longwood High School then went on to Borough of Manhattan Community College and studied acting at Graystone Acting Studio.
As a singer, Ms. Sumpter was signed with Universal Records for a year. She also belongs to a group called "Twise," which consists of Miss Sumpter and her music partner, rapper Marcella "Precise" Brailsford.
Ms. Sumpter's hobbies consist of reading, writing, playing volleyball and listening to music. In her spare time she also enjoys aerobics classes.
