Mark SAYS

Previous Quote

Supporting someone and respecting someone isn't the same thing.

Next Quote
  • Callie Torres
    to Mark:

"I told you, you can't give me money. Even if you are a fancy plastic surgeon. I am not your charity case. I am not your mistress. I am your friend, your equal."

  • Lexie Grey
    to Mark:

"They think you're taking advantage of me, they think I'm using you, but they don't know us."

  • Lexie Grey
    to Mark:

"It's not 'Little Grey,' it's Lexie, and I'm not going anywhere."

CHARACTER BIO

LIKES:
Lexie; saving lives through plastic surgery (it can be done)

DISLIKES:

Seattle; his “manwhore” moniker

NOTABLE RELATIONSHIPS:
Mark was the catalyst for the end of Derek's marriage to Addison, after Derek caught him sleeping with his wife. Since relocating to Seattle, Mark has slept with many nurses and even a resident or two. Regarldess, McSteamy is now in a committed relationship with Lexie Grey.

OTHER:
Nicknamed "McSteamy" by the female interns, Mark's arrival in Seattle caused more than a few upsets among the staff at SGH. Very little is known about the hunky, mysterious plastic surgeon, but the mystery surrounding him only adds to his charm. He's the kind of guy who women hate falling for, but just can't resist. Oh, and he can even suture his own cut face.

ACTOR BIO

Since early 2006, when Eric Dane first appeared on Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan, fans everywhere have truly become obsessed.

Grey's Anatomy was honored at the 2007 SAG Awards with the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Performance by an Ensemble Cast and at the 2007 Golden Globes, receiving the award for Best Television Series - Drama.

Dane was raised in San Francisco, the older of two brothers whose father was an architect and interior designer and mother a homemaker. While excelling as an athlete in high school, it was there that he was bitten by the acting bug in a production of Arthur Miller's play All My Sons. After moving to Los Angeles in 1993, Dane made his TV debut on The Wonder Years, and proceeded to be cast in guest and recurring roles on Charmed, The American Embassy and, giving precedence to his current role, as a doctor on Gideon's Crossing. He has appeared in several television films including Serving in Silence and the remake of Helter Skelter. He also appeared in A & E's Wedding Wars, opposite John Stamos.

On the big screen, Dane's first major role came in 1999 in the World War I film The Basket, and he was subsequently featured in the comedy Sol Goode. Other film credits include the tongue-in-cheek horror flick Feast and Open Water: Adrift. He made an impression on audiences as Jamie Madrox playing Multiple Man in the summer blockbuster hit X-Men: The Last Stand. Dane can also be seen opposite Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson in the comedy Marley & Me.

Dane currently resides in Los Angeles.
