Whoa ... this is a big one. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos -- the real life marrieds who met on the set of All My Children -- are bringing their beloved characters, Hayley and Mateo Santos, back to the show! It's to help celebrate the show's 40th anniversary (slated for January 5th, 2010). Expect them to air on January 4th and 5th.
Kelly joined AMC in 1990 as Trevor Dillon's black wig-wearing, rebellious niece Hayley. She soon found out Adam Chandler was her dad and became one of the show's most popular characters. When Mark joined as Mateo in 1995, Hayley and Mateo fell in love -- and so did Mark and Kelly. The two were last seen in Pine Valley in 2002, when they left for California to work on Hayley's talk show.
Kelly, of course, shot to superstardom as co-host of Live with Regis and Kelly (she did double duty with that job and AMC for a while) and her own sitcom, Hope and Faith. Mark's continued acting (with guest stints on Ugly Betty, among other shows), and was a regular contributor to Oprah.
Details are forthcoming about what Hayley and Mateo will be doing when they arrive back in the quiet (yeah, right) hamlet of Pine Valley. But we are DYING to see what Hayley has to say about what dad Adam is doing shacked up with Annie.
