ACTOR BIO

Ray MacDonnell joined the cast of All My Children in 1970, at its inception, as Dr. Joe Martin. Dr. Joe remains one of Pine Valley's most upstanding citizens, along with his wife, Ruth.

Mr. MacDonnell was born and raised in Lawrence, MA, and went to nearby Amherst College. He attended the Royal Academy in London as a Fulbright scholar.

He appeared as the popular character Philip Capice on The Edge of Night for nearly eight years. Mr. MacDonnell's other television credits include Studio One and Armstrong Circle Theatre. He starred on Broadway in Mame, with both Angela Lansbury and Ann Miller, and in numerous off-Broadway productions.

In 2004, Mr. MacDonnell received a Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
