CHARACTER BIO

Brot Monroe went to Iraq to serve his country. He never expected an explosion during combat burned most of his body, leaving scars inside and out. After letting the world think he died, Brot returned to his friends and loved ones. Now he faces life with the same courage and dignity with which he served.

ACTOR BIO

JR Martinez is a real-life war hero who is making his acting debut on All My Children. He joins the cast as Brot Monroe. His character is the presumed-dead fiance of Lt. Taylor Thompson (Beth Ehlers).

In February of 2003, Mr. Martinez was deployed to Iraq and in April, 2003, while serving as a driver of a Humvee, the tire hit a landmine and he suffered severe burns to more than 40 percent of his body. After spending 34 months in the hospital and undergoing 32 different surgeries, he is now a national spokesperson for the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes, to promote and support programs helping other wounded service members.
